Workforce Effectiveness

Over the next decade, the Federal workforce will continue to change dramatically. Major trends include the attrition of Baby Boomers and influx of “Millennials,” new expectations around the use of the latest technology, the ability to telecommute and the continual shifting of administrative priorities. These are just a few examples that affect employees and the cultures they work within. Federal employees’ careers are often built on the content expertise they possess. Career growth is obtained primarily through hands-on experience. Resources for career development and team development can be viewed as “nice-to- have” versus essential to organizational health and strategy.

Hassett Willis and Company understands the particular challenges that agencies face in developing their employees, building strong teams and ensuring that the resources spent on employee development realize a true return on investment. We also appreciate the environmental challenges associated with shifting administrations and leadership. We have worked with our clients to build strong teams and capabilities to withstand the challenges particular to the Federal environment.

Building an effective workforce requires an investment of time and resources. Working alongside our clients to understand their organizational and team structures, roles and responsibilities, employee expectations and strategic goals, Hassett Willis and Company offers experienced consultants to help assess, strategize and implement plans for improved workforce effectiveness.

Team improvement planning and implementation

  • Human capital and performance management strategies may be needed if an organization seems chronically understaffed or overstaffed, if employee and team performance is an issue or performance expectations seem unclear.

Training development and delivery

  • Our training programs are not off the shelf. In fact, case studies, built with our clients’ input and based on their actual work scenarios, are a core component of the programs we design and use within an experiential learning framework. We know that adult learners learn by doing, not by being lectured to.
  • A customized program can often serve as a critical organizational intervention when a group of employees is required to make significant changes in work processes, reporting structures or other routine components of their jobs. It can also act as a tool to help employees build critical, new skill sets when asked to meet new professional challenges.

Group facilitation

  • All organizations, regardless of their culture, require senior leaders to come together to make decisions about issues affecting their future. HWC has worked with hundreds of senior executives and managers across Federal, state and local entities to assist them in assessing risk, identifying issues and solving problems. We use a proven framework and methodology to enable our clients to identify their goals for any group decision-making process and then build the right meeting framework to ensure they reach their desired outcomes. The processes we employ often allow our clients to reduce the time they would normally spend reaching the right conclusions necessary for moving forward.
